ECLIPSES: We are the change (July 2009)
July 2009...
Somewhere in Croatia
As I write this, the Full Moon in Capricorn is peaking through my window, getting ready to turn into an eclipse. I have seen an amazing sunset today, the Sun disk was bright orange and very intense, as it was slowly sinking into the Adriatic sea here in Croatia where I am visiting.
It's always amazing to watch planetary phenomena and to observe how gentle and determined Mother Nature is, so perfect. Everything that happens in the skies influences us and it resonates with us here while all the events and decisions we make every moment of our lives do make sense in the end. Sometimes exciting, eventful, and challenging, sometimes even painful, things that we initiate and that we go through, as well as the life lessons that we learn and the experience we gain, fall right into place. Change is good, even though it doesn't always appear to be so at first.
Astrology is a wonderful tool that gives us an opportunity to be proactive, to learn about these events and to make sense out of them ahead of time. It helps us understand why we chose the path we're going through. It helps us decide where to go next and what direction to take.
Lunar and Solar eclipses have always been fascinating to us humans, probably for a good reason. In ancient times, kings were born or they passed away during eclipses, they got crowned, or they resigned, they abdicated or they got executed. At those times of the eclipses, countries went into wars, the Earth went through weather changes or some other type of turmoil. We astrologers have observed people and our relationship with nature and we took notes. We know, at this time of year, our emotions are more intense. On a mundane level, our governments are changing, they are sensitive and not very stable.
This week, newspapers here reported that the Croatian prime minister Ivo Sanader has resigned and that after 20 years in politics, he is leaving for good. 'Sanader also resigned as president of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ). As yet the reasons for his resignation are unclear, but speculation ranges from sickness of a close family member to a breaking scandal connected with government tenders. At a hastily announced news conference, Sanader told reporters: "My job has been done, my political life ends now." "I have decided to withdraw from active politics and not to run for the presidency", he added. He also confirmed he had been offered positions in EU institutions but said he had turned them down', says European Forum Net.
At the same time, while reading Croatian newspapers, I found out that Sarah Palin, the governor of Alaska, has resigned from her position as the governor of Alaska. Yahoo News writes: 'A day after surprising even her closest friends by announcing she would step down as Alaska governor more than a year before her term was up, the controversial hockey mom was still keeping details of her future plans under wraps. But in a statement posted on Palin's Facebook account, she suggested that she had bigger plans and a national agenda she planned to push after she resigns at the end of the month.'
Michael Jackson, the King of pop, has died. This news has shocked all of us, not only his faithful fans, but the whole world. Michael was maybe living an unusual life, but his talent was great and undisputed. He was the King. His fans have grieved and cried this month, several people around the world have commited suicides because of his death. 'A UK media outlet Sky News quoted the president of MJJCommunity, one of the world's largest Michael Jackson fan sites based in the UK, saying a total of (at least) 12 suicides occurred, one involving a Briton. EOnline.com mentions a Michael Jackson impersonator in Russia who attempted suicide (but was not successful) and The Barcelona Reporter claims a young girl in Tunisia was the first fan to commit suicide.'
Was there a coup in Honduras? Fox News writes: 'Since the 1981 return of civilian rule, Honduras has regarded itself as a friend of the U.S. In the '80s, it allowed the Nicaraguan Resistance or "Contras" to operate from base camps there. It lent troops for Operation Iraqi Freedom and continues to support a small U.S. military presence on Honduran soil. Economic ties are strong. Now those cordial relations are in jeopardy. On June 28, Honduran President Manuel Zelaya was expelled from the country for multiple constitutional violations. The U.S. quickly joined an international chorus deploring the expulsion, denouncing as a military coup what the Honduran Supreme Court and Congress called for a defense of their constitution and rule of law. The new Honduran government says it wants to end polarization, restore order, and move to elections in November, but the international community demands Zelaya's restoration to power.'
Associated Press says that 'Iranian opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi made his first public appearance, vowing to continue his campaign against a government that he said lacks legitimacy. But his comments suggested he is abandoning massive street protests after they were quashed by a tough crackdown. Mousavi's statements, reported on an pro-opposition news Web site, reflect his movement's struggles to survive after a wave of arrests that netted protesters, top pro-reform politicians and journalists. Hard-liners have called for Mousavi himself to be jailed. Since the crackdown, the dramatic marches that filled main streets after the disputed June 12 presidential elections have vanished.'
The mayor of Memphis, Willie Harenton, announced his resignation until the end of this month, while Mark Sanford, Republican governor of South Carolina is still thinking. Everyone, especially his wife, wished he did some thinking a while ago.
Why is all this happening now?
Because the times when eclipses occur are the times when the Sun, the Moon and the Earth align at the same plane, the energy triggered this way is very powerful and strong. Our emotions become more vibrating and deep themselves, so we make those cuts and decide to finish one cycle and to start another one.
The Sun in astrology, especially being connected to the Moon and the Moon Nodes, has a lot to do with power and people in charge. Therefore, we see a lot of changes in the area of goverment and leadership.
We had some changes in our organization as well.
Saundra Moore Williams, ASNT president of three years has kindly passed the torch to me last month. Thank you Saundra and the ASNT board for working so hard the past three years. Your leadership and the energy of ASNT board members have always been inspiring. This is a big honor for me and I hope I will fulfill your expectations.
Let's go through this time of change accepting our new roles and doing the best we can to express our love and to help others. Lunar eclipse in Capricorn and then, Solar eclipse in Cancer on July 22, represent our need to balance professional and family life, to build authority in the area of professional work and to show our gentle side and to take care of each other when it comes to those people to which we are connected through family ties.
Let's hope that the changes in politics will be succesful and for a good reason.
But don't get confused. Planets will not make our decisions and bring the change.
As Barack Obama recently said: 'Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.'
